BCSO Identifies Suspect In Sharpes Shooting

Joshua Patrick Wheelin of Cocoa was identified as a suspect in the Sharpes shooting. He was charged with one count of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated battery.

According to Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy Maria Fernez, Wheelin was initially charged with one count of Armed Robbery and two counts of Aggravated Battery. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

VICTIMS IDENTIFIED 

Below is an excerpt from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office release, which includes the names of the shooting victims:

“On July 21, 2013, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 6900 block of Ash Drive, Sharpes. The two victims involved were identified as 20-year-old Paul Gary McComas and 18-year-old Jason Darcy Miningham.

McComas was treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries. Miningham was admitted and is being treated for his injuries. Wheelin was transported to the Brevard County Jail Complex and is currently being held on a No Bond status.”
