LAST WEEK: IDLE

Cocoa is once again the top-rated team high school football team on the Space Coast. (SpaceCoastDaily.com image)

Cocoa is at Gonzaga in Washington, DC. Tiger QB Bruce Judson is the first Freshman to start for Cocoa since Chris Hall in 1988, who later went on to play for Florida State. Judson is a FBU Central Florida Youth Phenom, National Underclassman Orlando QB MVP, Middle School 100m & 200m Champion.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL VIDEO PROFILE: Freddie Booth-Lloyd of Cocoa

Judson has the luxury of not having to do it all his first year as he is surrounded by D1 talent. Jamel Jackson (South Alabama, Sr., DB), Freddy Booth Lloyd (16 offers, Sr.,DL), Chauncey Gardner (Miami, So., ATH), Jamel Dean (Multiple Offers, Jr., ATH) and James Folston (son of NFL player James Folston, Sr.) lead a fast and swarming defense. Lorenzo Pratt (Sr., RB) will take the bulk of carries as he becomes the featured back now that All-American, Tarean Folston is playing for Notre Dame.

Gonzaga, will com into the game after a 23-7 upset loss in a scrimmage recently against Archbishop Carroll. However, Gonzaga will look to unleash Ohio commit Robbie Walker (Sr., ATH) and Georgia Tech commit Miles Taylor (Jr., ATH).
PREDICTION: Cocoa 32, Gonzaga 3

HERITAGE (0-0) @ EUSTIS (0-0)

Heritage had a huge win last week against nationally-rated Gainesville. The Panthers are loaded and as advertised. Heritage will ride the momentum into the regular season against Eustis on the road.

Heritage returns 15 starters from a 10-2 team in 2012. It won’t be a surprise if they make a deep playoff run as this team is loaded at every position.
PREDICTION: Heritage 25, Eustis

ST. AUGUSTINE (0-0) @ BAYSIDE (0-0)

Bayside beat Astronaut 34-21 last week but will have a tougher test this week as they host St.Augustine.
PREDICTION: Bayside 23, St.Augustine 20

NEW SMYRNA BEACH (0-0) @ MERRITT ISLAND (0-0)

Merritt Island dominated a young Viera team 34-7 and will have a tough test this week in New Smyrna Beach and D’Cota Dixon(Sr., RB). Dixon rushed for 177 yards and 74 yards receiving as they beat Timber Creek last week 27-9.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL VIDEO PROFILE: Ty Schwab of Merritt Island

The NSB defense held Jacques Patrick (Jr., RB) to 89 yards rushing. Merritt Island will look towards Ty Schwab (Sr., LB) and company to slow Dixon down.  If the Mustangs do not contain Dixon this could be the upset of the week.
PREDICTION: Merritt Island 20, NSB 18

PALM BAY (0-0) @ PORT ST. LUCIE (0-0)

Palm Bay’s Stephon Williams (Jr.) had 15 tackles Alex Jasmin (Sr.) had 10 Tackles but it wasn’t enough to slow down Vero Beach.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL VIDEO PROFILE: Alex Jasmin of Palm Bay

Palm Bay lose 24-13 and will look to regroup on the road this week against Port St.Lucie. Look for Sekai Lindsey(Jr.)  to have a big game.
PREDICTION: Palm Bay 20, Port St.Lucie 3

MELBOURNE (0-0) @ SATELLITE (0-0)

The Melbourne defense shut down the explosive offense of Titusville last week in a 28-7 win.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL VIDEO PROFILE: Brent Diamond of Melbourne

Should have the same result this week against Satellite Beach who lost to Space Coast 26-6 last week.
PREDICTION: Melbourne 24, Satellite 7

TOMBALL (TEXAS) @ MELBOURNE CENTRAL CATHOLIC (0-0)

Melbourne Central Catholic beat John Carroll at home 38-8 last week and will now face Tomball Christian Home School High School out of Texas. This should be another blowout win. Brandon Ziarno (Jr., QB) will have another big game.
PREDICTION: MCC 35, Tomball Christian 3

EAU GALLIE (0-0) @ PINE RIDGE (0-0)

After beating Rockledge, the rest of the county are aware that this is a new Eau Gallie team. This could be the surprise team of the year. Up next on the road versus Pine Ridge (Deltona).
PREDICTION: Eau Gallie 25, Pine Ridge 10

MOUNT DORA (0-0) @ ASTRONAUT (0-0)

Astronaut enters the top 10 after strong showing against Bayside without J.T Hassell (Sr.). Hassell will return as Astronaut host Mount Dora who beat East Ridge 36-0 last week.
PREDICTION: Astronaut 30, Mount Dora 25

HARMONY (0-0) @ SPACE COAST (0-0)

Space Coast moved into the rankings after dominating Satellite Beach 26-6. If the county’s most underrated QB, Nick Rittenhouse, continues to dominate like he did last week, this will be a huge win and start for the Vipers 2013 season.
PREDICTION: Space Coast 17, Harmony 14

ROCKLEDGE (0-0) @ VIERA (0-0)

FRIDAY NIGHT LOCKER ROOM GAME OF THE WEEK

Rockledge took it on the chin last week in the Kickoff classic vs. Eau Gallie losings 8-0. Raiders coach Larry Laskowski will have his team well prepared for the Hawks, who have never beaten Rockledge. Head Coach Kevin Mays is looking to rebound after his Hawks lost last week to Merritt Island in the Kickoff classic. Viera Leader Cody Dentmon (Sr., QB) has a young team but has the talent with Evan Cruz (So.,DB), Tre Nixon(So.,WR) and Jordan Stengel (Jr. LB) to pull this week’s upset.

UPSET ALERT – PREDICTION: Viera 17, Rockledge 14
