UPDATE: Two Men Shot At Apartment in Cocoa

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Today, at approximately 11 a.m., Quantavious Gilmore, 26, and John H. Stephens, 28, were shot in the area of 1717 Dixon Boulevard in Cocoa, according to the Cocoa Police Department.

Both men were airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center.

Witnesses told police that an unknown vehicle entered the apartment complex and began shooting. A short time later, police received calls of shots fired on E Street in Cocoa.

An unoccupied vehicle was struck on E Street. Approximately 30 minutes later, Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted the suspect vehicle, a Nissan Titan, from E Street in Melbourne and conducted a felony stop on that vehicle. In the vehicle were four males and three firearms – including an AK-47.

According to the Cocoa Police Department, none of the males were arrested, however, the weapons were seized so that police can determine if they were used in the earlier crimes in the City of Cocoa.

At this time, neither Gilmore nor Stephens is cooperating with police.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA,  FLORIDA — Two men were shot at an Apartment complex at 1717 Dixon Blvd in Cocoa.

According to Cocoa  Police Department Public Information Officer Barbara Matthews, two black males were shot. One victim was shot in the arm and the other was shot in the torso, several times. The victim shot in the arm was driven to a hospital by car, then airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. The victim who was shot in the torso was airlifted from the scene to Holmes Regional Medical Center. A suspect has yet to be identified by the victims or witnesses.

Cocoa Police Department’s investigative unit is at the crime scene searching for additional information.
