Sheriff Seeks Suspect Who Battered Officer

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer. 

The suspect then exited Home Depot with property that appeared to have been stolen and Deputy Eri approached and identified himself to the suspect, then attempted to detain him pending the arrival of the Sheriff’s Office.

At about 8 p.m. last night a white male suspect committed a theft at the Home Depot located at 200 N. Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island. Deputies were called to the business after receiving reports from witnesses of an off-duty deputy attempting to detain a suspect.

The incident occurred after off-duty Deputy Don Eri observed suspicious activity involving a vehicle and a suspect outside of the Home Depot.

A suspect then exited the business with property that appeared to have been stolen from the Home Depot. Deputy Eri approached and identified himself to the suspect and attempted to detain him pending the arrival of the Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect refused to comply and resisted with violence, battering Deputy Eri in the process. The suspect then entered a gray 4-door sedan, driven by a white male, which immediately left the area. Deputy Eri sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black shirt, plaid shorts, white socks and black tennis shoes. The suspect appeared to be in his early 30’s, approximately 5’9-5’11, 180-190 pounds, shaved head, goatee, tattoos on his left forearm and stretched ear lobes with large gauges.

All calls to CRIMELINE are confidential, and callers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $1000.00 for information leading to an arrest.
