MELBOURNE – BYE

GAME CAPSULES & PREDICTIONS

EAU GALLIE (3-2) @ VIERA (5-0)

Here we are in Week 6 and Viera remains undefeated. The rest of the state has taken notice as the Viera Hawks are now ranked #10 in 7A. The additions of Joe Cohen (Defensive Line Coach) and Jason Watkins (Offensive Line Coach) has given the Hawks the help upfront to go along with its speedy skill players. Head Coach Kevin Mays has a team that believes in the system and playing as a disciplined group. Look for Viera to spread the ball around to Tre Nixon and Devin Nixon as well as hand the ball off to Canadian Bruiser 2016 RB Zack Blanch.

KEY PLAYERS –  Viera: Tre Nixon (So. WR), Devin Nixon (Jr. ATH), Cody Dentmon (Sr. QB). Eau Gallie: Antoine Rutledge ( Sr. ATH), Torrance Brown(Sr. QB), Bryce Walker ( Jr. WR)

PREDICTION: Viera 28, Eau Gallie 17

ASTRONAUT (2-3) @ ROCKLEDGE (0-4)

The two teams come into this one in need of a victory to turn the season around. Rockledge hs not won a game this season and Astronaut has lost three straight close games. Look for Astronaut to win big in this one, as Tez Keels and JT Hassell will rally the troops for a late season push toward the playoffs.

KEY PLAYERS – Astronaut: Tez Keels (Sr, ATH), JT Hassell (Sr, DE). Rockledge: Traven Phillips (Sr. FB), Juandarius Dukes (Jr. DB)

PREDICTION: Astronaut 30, Rockledge 0

BAYSIDE (5-0) @ JENSEN BEACH (2-4)

Bayside lead by QB Austin Evarts on offense are displaying a balanced attack that has the Bears undefeated, thus far. Jensen Beach (1-4) will have a tough time trying to slow down the Baysdie offense. Look for senior running back William Harrell and  Darion Andre to have a huge night

KEY PLAYERS: Bayside: William Harrell (Sr.RB), Lucious McKay (Sr.ATH), Greg Miclisse (Sr. LB)

PREDICTION: Bayside 34, Jensen Beach 0

PALM BAY (3-2) AT TITUSVILLE (4-1)

Palm Bay will be tested this week against a Titusville team fighting to stay in the playoff race. Interesting matchups between DB Alex Jasmin and WR Tommy Cobb as well as linebacker Stephon Williams and running back  Jaleel Davis will make this an exciting game. Titusville because of its upset loss to Satellite will need this victory against the Pirates to stay in the playoff picture. Pirates win this one in shootout.

KEY PLAYERS:  Palm Bay: Stephon Williams(Jr. LB),  Alex Jasmin (Sr. DB), Sekai Lindsey (Jr. RB), Reggie Benjamin (Sr. RB). Titusville: Jaleel Davis (So. RB), Tommy Cobb (Sr,WR)

Prediction: Palm Bay 35, Titusville 27

ORLANDO JONES (0-5) @ SPACE COAST (4-1)

Space Coast will need to take advantage of a struggling Jones team if it wants to remain one of the favorites in the district. Nick Rittenhouse leads the County in Passing Yards and touchdowns and has the Vipers the surprise team this season. Look for Space Coast to win this one convincingly.

KEY PLAYERS – Nick Rittenhouse (Sr. QB), Chase Colantino (Sr,WR).

PREDICTION: Space Coast 40, Orlando Jones 0

COCOA BEACH (0-5) AT COCOA (3-1) WOUNDED WARRIORS GAME

Semper Fi to all the Wounded Warriors. This game is a fundraiser for Wounded Warriors and all proceeds go to help help thousands of injured warriors returning from the battlefield and helps provide assistance to their families.

Cocoa is coming off a 47-9 win over Hernando. Cocoa Beach is winless this season, but with the exception of a loss at MCC, the Minutemen have been competitive in each game. Senior quarterback Antoine Griffin (FIU, Cincinnati, FAMU offers) has been a human highlight reel and will need to continue to urge his team on to pull the upset. Coach Wilkinson has handed the keys to dynamic freshman quaterback Bruce Judson and feels comfortable in letting him lead the way. Look for wide receiver Kevin Troutman and  Jamel Dean to have a big game.

KEY PLAYERS – Cocoa: Freddy Booth-Lloyd (Sr. DT), Jamel Dean (Jr.  ATH), Bruce Judson (Fr.QB). Cocoa Beach: Antoine Griffin(Sr. QB), Asante Griffin (Jr. RB), Jamaal Eveillard (Sr. RB)

PREDICTION: Cocoa 45, Cocoa Beach 0

HERITAGE (5-0) @ PORT ST. LUCIE (1-2)

The No. 1 ranked team in Brevard County and No. 4 in 6A will take on district foe Port St. Lucie on the road. Heritage continues to dominate its opponents, and this week should be no exception. Port St. Lucie averages 11 points a game and gives up 21 points. These are not the kind of numbers that lead to an upset of a team like Heritage, which is well coached, balanced on offense, great defense, and has a solid special teams unit. Heritage who is the favorite to win the district will have another Panther blowout.

KEY PLAYERS – Heritage: Clinton Moxam (Sr. QB),  Josh Gaines (So. RB), Dedric Witherspoon (Sr. ATH). Port St. Lucie: Brandon Letcher (Jr. LB), Tavon Lindsay (Sr. WR)

PREDICTION: Heritage 40, Port St. Lucie 0

MCC (4-0) @ First Academy (3-2)

First Academy comes into this game (3-2) after losing to IMG last week 35-5. MCC undefeated and having a great season look to avenge a 52-8 defeat last season. MCC is averaging 48 points on offense per game. Look for receivers Max Erdman, and Austin Perlman to have a big game as MCC wins but closer than most fans expect.

KEY PLAYERS – MCC: Max Erdman (Jr. WR), Austin Perlman (Jr. WR), Brandon Ziarno (Jr. QB)

PREDICTION: MCC 35, First Academy 28

MERRITT ISLAND (5-0) @ SATELLITE (3-2)

Merritt Island dominated nationally-ranked Oviedo last week 21-3 and look to ride that undefeated momentum against Satellite. Riding a three-game upset streak, with 10-7 victories over Titusville and Eau Gallie in the last two, 2014 QB Tyler Allen will hope to use the same formula to defeat Merritt Island. QB Nick Smith (Marshall, Buffalo and FIU offers) will have a huge game in this one.

KEY PLAYERS: – Merritt Island: Ty Schwab ( Sr. LB), Shaq Jones (Sr. ATH),Johnny Batch (Sr. DB). Satellite: Tyler Allen (Sr. QB)

PREDICTION: Merritt Island 30, Satellite 7
