Fans Celebrate Upcoming Season For Nationals, Manatees

KICK-OFF EVENT HERALDS UPCOMING BASEBALL SEASON

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — Brevard County residents showed enthusiastic support for the Brevard County Manatees and the Washington Nationals at the “Space Coast Welcomes Back Baseball” event sponsored by the Melbourne Regional Chamber of East Central Florida.

“Manny the Manatee” was on hand to greet baseball fans, along with representatives from the Washington Nationals and the Brevard County Manatees. The event was held at Duran Golf Club and sponsored by TeleTech.

Attendees registered to win tickets to the March 11 New York Yankees vs. Washington Nationals game, visited with team representatives, and signed up for a chance to throw out the first pitch at a National’s home game.

“The Washington Nationals players and coaches have arrived in town, and are preparing to challenge the National League East,” said Kyle Smith, General Manager of the Brevard County Manatees Baseball Club.

“We at the Manatees are here to support the Nationals, and talk a bit about our upcoming season. This year is the Manatees 21st season at Space Coast Stadium, and we take much pride putting Brevard on the front of our jerseys, both at home and on the road.”

• The Washington Nationals kick off their Grapefruit season on February 28 with a game against the Mets at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie.

• The Brevard County Manatees kick off their season April 3 with a home game against the Daytona Cubs.
