This sporting Affair is the university’s biggest fundraiser for athletics scholarships and Chopper Dropper; the helicopter drop of 2,000 numbered golf balls onto the green, is the key event.

The 2013 Sporting Affair grossed $480,000 for scholarships that support Panther-athletes this academic year. The 2014 proceeds will help student-athletes with scholarships in 2014-2015.

Chopper Dropper raises funds by selling 2,000 numbered golf balls at $100 apiece and dropping them in a helicopter flyover.

The ball that lands closest to the pin wins $50,000 and last year Josh Baker of Jacksonville held the ticket with that ball’s number.

Other cash prizes are $10,000 and 15 prizes of $1,000 each for a total of $75,000 given away.

THE COCKTAIL PARTY

The cocktail party is part of the fun and one individual per $100 ball sponsorship may enjoy a generous selection of food, soft drinks, wine and beer from a variety of restaurant partners.
