BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — I would like to commend the actions of Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Agent Brett Lockhart of the North Precinct for his thoroughness during a recent investigation.

While working the case, Agent Lockhart arrested Brian Akins for several offenses including firearm charges.

Subsequent to the arrest, as Agent Lockhart continued to develop more evidence in the case it was determined that the defendant was making plans to flee the area once he made bond in order to avoid prosecution and prison.

Agent Lockhart quickly worked with the State Attorney’s office to present the newly developed evidence to the Judge at first appearance who then held Akins on “No Bond.”

The extra effort by Agent Lockhart kept the defendant from getting back out on the street where he could avoid prosecution and continue to commit more crimes.
