Brevard County Sheriff Investigating Shooting In Cocoa

UPDATE: West Precinct General Crimes Agents developed probable cause for the arrest of 25-year-old Dontarius Terelle Jones of Cocoa. Jones was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Discharge of a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle, Discharge of a Firearm on a Roadway and Aggravated Child Abuse.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on the 300 block of A Lane in Cocoa. (Map above)

Deputies responded to a 911 emergency call advising that a victim was shot. Once on scene, it was determined that the victim was 12-years-old and had been shot in the leg during the incident.

Witnesses advised that the suspects fled the area in a red Chrysler 300 last seen heading toward State Road 520.

Deputies immediately responded to the area and were able to locate the vehicle on Calvado Drive in Cocoa.

Three subjects have been detained and are currently being interviewed by Sheriff’s Agents. The names are not being released at this time as this investigation is ongoing. It appears as if the victim was the target of the incident.

The victim was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital in stable condition with what are being reported as non-life threatening injuries.
