BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — With neither of the top two candidates totaling more than 50 percent of votes cast for Brevard County School Board District 2, Keith Yarbrough and John Craig advanced to a runoff in the general election.

One of the primary differences between the two candidates is their position regarding a proposed half-cent sales tax on each purchase made in Brevard County, which aims to raise $200 million for local public schools. Prior to running for school board, Yarbrough served of the first year round education committee in Brevard, as well as the Florida Education Practices Commission.
