Eastern Florida Job Fair Connects Students with Employers

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College’s Career Planning and Development Center will host its annual Fall Job Fair on Wednesday, October 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the EFSC Palm Bay Campus, 250 Community College Parkway, Palm Bay.

Attending the fair will be recruiters from more than 50 local companies, representing healthcare, retail, the food industry, banking, hospitality and engineering.

The job fair is open to all EFSC students and alumni. Students are encouraged to bring several copies of their résumé and dress in business attire.

To prepare students for the job fair, Career Planning and Development Center staff hosted a professional development workshop, held at various times on each of the four college campuses. The workshop covered topics including how to write a résumé, how to connect with prospective employers and how to interview.

“We teach students professional development skills,” said Gloria Meeks, Collegewide Associate Director, Career Planning and Development Center.

“We also offer them information on job-hunting websites and job fairs. We give them the whole package.”

“Companies expect a high level of knowledge from their applicants,” said Cathy Cady, Director of Student Recruitment and Support Services.

“We help our students stand out to employers and rise to the top of their applicant pools.”
