Florida Continues to See Strong Economic Growth

Crisafulli-Steve-595-1

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Last week, Members of the Florida House traveled to Tallahassee for Organization Session, the first opportunity to meet and prepare for the upcoming 2015 Legislative Session.

While the House was convened, all Representatives were officially sworn in as Members of the Florida House. Joined by our family and friends, we each took an oath to protect the Constitution of the State of Florida and serve with honor and integrity.

During Organization Session, it was my great honor to be sworn in as the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives for the 2014-2016 legislative term.

In my remarks to the House, I called on Republicans and Democrats to work together to solve the challenges facing our state, and I asked Members to create a brand for the House that would honor the people and history of our great state.

I believe that the brand that marks the House of Representatives is that in every word, every action, every thought, and every deed, we make our service all about Florida.

With the 2015 Legislative Session on the horizon, I am looking forward to serving with so many talented leaders from across the state who share the same goal -to make a real difference for the people we represent.

Florida Continues to See Strong Economic Growth

The latest jobs numbers are in, and Florida’s economy continued its strong growth with 34,400 jobs added in October. The unemployment rate dropped to 6.0 percent, down 0.1 percent from the previous month and the state’s lowest unemployment rate since June 2008!

The latest numbers continue the wave of job creation in the Sunshine State. Over the past year, Florida has added a net total of 206,900 jobs and has now added 679,000 private sector jobs since December 2010.

Florida’s annual job growth rate of 2.7 percent has exceeded the nation’s rate since April 2012 and continues to outpace several other highly populated states like New York, Illinois and California.

This is great news for all Floridians, and I believe this is further proof that the pro-growth policy choices we have made at the state level are paying off.

In my view, by being fiscally responsible with your tax dollars and cutting taxes and fees for Florida’s families and businesses, we have fostered a great environment for job creation in Florida.

We take pride in being a national leader in creating jobs, and I believe we must continue to support these policies so that every Floridian has the opportunity to find a job and pursue their dreams.

Happy Thanksgiving
