BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Playing against a 2014 NCAA Tournament team for the second straight day, Florida Tech once again stepped up to the challenge as it defeated Armstrong State 82-69 on Saturday at Rubin Arena.

The Panthers beat Clayton State, which earned a No. 2 seed in last year’s tournament, 75-61 on Friday.

Now with a 5-0 record, FIT is off to its best start since it began the 2008-09 season at 11-0. All 15 Panthers saw action and contributed in the win. Armstrong State, meanwhile, drops to 2-5.

Kayk Wilson led all Panthers with 17 points. Kaila Callender scored 12 points, all on three-pointers, in 13 minutes. Jasmire Brown pitched in 10 points, all were recorded in the second half.

Tiesha Flagler, who had 14 rebounds in Friday’s win, pulled down 10 rebounds against the Pirates and added nine points.

The Panthers led 43-32 at the break and were up by double figures nearly the entire second half. Julie McCarthy gave FIT its largest lead of the game, 25 points, on a layup with 3:41 to play.

Albany State will make its way to the Clemente Center on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game against the Panthers.
