The event, which included silent and live auctions, a cocktail party, food stations sponsored by local restaurants and caterers and entertainment by local dancers, musical and “cowboy” performers raised more than $100,000 for the American Cancer Society.

The cowboys, who competed in rodeo tricks such as roping, shootouts and some cool dance moves to earn points and raise money, were a highlight of the evening.

Raphael Nelson was the winner based on game and dance points and money raised passing the hat.

The Stringer Dance Team from Melbourne Central Catholic High School led the procession of guests from the Lansing Island Club House cocktail party to the tented dance hall, followed by a Western-style dance routine, choreographed to the song “Foot Loose,” injected energy into the night’s festivities.

Stringers also partnered with a Cowboy, leading cheers to encourage support and donations during the contests and also helped keep a tally of their scores.
