Three Spectators Injured In Toy Run Motorcycle Crash

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Three people were injured on Sunday at about 1 p.m. during the ABATE Toy Run when a motorcycle participant lost control of his bike and struck three spectators.

The victims include a 44-year old woman, her daughter in her mid 20’s and her 2-year old daughter.
The grandmother was taken by ambulance to Wuesthoff Hospital where she was treated and later released. The 22-year old female was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center and is currently in surgery and in critical condition.
The 2-year old child was air lifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital and her condition is unknown at this time.
The motorcycle run was stopped twice for approximately 10 minutes each time to facilitate rescue personnel and the investigation.
The 2014 ABATE Motorcycle Toy Run is an annual Brevard County event that includes 6,000 to 8,000 participants to benefit children.
The Toy Run goes from Merritt Square Mall on Merritt Island and ends at the Melbourne Campus of Eastern Florida State College.
