Basketball players Payton Hulsey and Crystal Townsend are the Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 11.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Basketball players Payton Hulsey and Crystal Townsend are the Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 11.

Payton Hulsey, a 6-foot, 5-inch sophomore guard/forward from Memphis, Tennessee and Eastern Kentucky University, scored 12 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and recorded 11 assists for a triple-double in Eastern Florida’s 83-56 men’s victory over host Indian River State on Jan. 7.

The triple-double was the first in Jeremy Shulman’s five seasons as Eastern Florida’s head coach.

Eastern Florida’s men finished the week at 18-1 overall and 1-0 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference.

Crystal Townsend a 5-7 guard/forward from Cape Coral, Florida and Cape Coral High School, scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Eastern Florida defeated host Miami Dade College 80-68.

She also scored 10 points – including a vital three-point play with one minute and six seconds to play – and grabbed three rebounds as Eastern Florida defeated visiting St. Petersburg College 71-68.

Eastern Florida’s women finished the week at 12-5 overall and 3-0 and in first place in the Southern Conference.
