Motorcyclist Killed In Fatal Crash On Merritt Island

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle vs. a car on Merritt Island.
According to FHP public information officer Kim Montes, the accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, when Laura Johnson, 70, of Merritt Island, was traveling westbound on Merritt Island Causeway (Also known as State Road 520). (See map below)
According to FHP, Johnson attempted to make a left turn onto Banana River Dr., but during the turn Johnson’s Honda sedan veered into the direct path of Eric Rebillard, 42, of Merritt Island, and she struck the right rear of Rebillard’s motorcycle.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
