Miracles do happen. Just ask Nicole Wilansky Hayman.

SPACE-COAST-MEDICINE-260X100-4For Hayman, the miracles are the happy, healthy and squirmy shapes of her twins, River and Riley, now 15 months old.

River and Riley weren’t supposed to have happened at all, according to the many specialists Hayman approached for help when she was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure, or POF, sometimes also called premature ovarian insufficiency and premature menopause.

In 2012, after 17 years on the birth control pill, 34-year-old Hayman and her husband, Garrett, decided to start a family.

They didn’t anticipate any problems, but issues quickly surfaced when Hayman’s period didn’t return even four months after stopping the pill.

Her gynecologist referred her to a reproductive specialist who conducted a battery of blood tests to measure Hayman’s hormone levels.

“When the test results came back, I was given the shock of my life,” said Hayman.
