Hunter Richard dies at Arnold Palmer Hospital

Seven-year old Hunter Richard of Cocoa was killed Saturday afternoon about 5:35 p.m. when the ATV he was riding on overturned on Cangro Street and Osprey Avenue in Canaveral Groves.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Seven-year old Hunter Richard of Cocoa was killed Saturday afternoon about 5:35 p.m. when the ATV he was riding on overturned on Cangro Street and Osprey Avenue in Canaveral Groves.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the ATV driver, Christine Chmiel, 42, was traveling westbound on Cangro Street, which is a dirt road.

When Chmiel came to the end of the road and attempted to turn around she lost control and the ATV overturned onto Richard.

Chmiel, of Cocoa, was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center, and Richards were flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he died.

Neither Richard or Chmiel were wearing helmets.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol the crash remains under investigation and charges against Chmiel are pending.
