Eastern Florida State College Baseball Team Splits Doubleheader on Road

Titans will be back on the road Tuesday

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team split a doubleheader with the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota Saturday on the road.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College baseball team split a doubleheader with the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota Saturday on the road.

The Titans won the first game 8-4 and then lost the second game 8-3 and are now 9-14 in the Citrus Conference.

In the first game, Ethan Askin had a big two-run double and then Ray Yero drove Askin in with a single as the Titans took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The Titans would lead the rest of the way as they added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and then two more in the seventh inning to post the 8-4 win.

Yero hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning and finished with three hits in the game. Jackson Wargo had two hits and Andrew Prieto also hit a home run, his third of the season.

Parker Trowbridge picked up the win, allowing three earned runs over five innings. Breylynn Courtney tossed two shutout innings for the save.

In Game 2, the teams traded runs in both the third and fourth innings but SCF-Manatee scored five times in the bottom of the fifth to pull away and win the series.

Jake Richardson and Steel Mientkiewicz each had two hits and Shane Thomas hit his third home run of the series and fourth of the season in the top of the ninth.

Eastern Florida State College is scheduled to be back on the road Tuesday for a non-conference game against Indian River State College at 2 p.m. The Titans will be back home on Thursday evening against Daytona State College. The game will begin at 6 p.m. and be shown live on WEFS-TV.
