BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A wide range of handcrafts, including jewelry, ceramics, origami and organic lotions and food, will be the stars at the Upstairs/Downstairs Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday March 7 at the Community Women’s Club of Cocoa.
The Club is located at 5 Rosa L. Jones Drive, between Florida and Brevard Avenues and diagonally across from the First Baptist Church of Cocoa.
This spring shopping spectacular will feature a variety of vendors including Peggy Boekhout’s hand crafted sewn purses, Rebecca Jones’ ceramics, mosaics and stained glass and Pampered Chef among many others. Proceeds from the bazaar will be used to support the club’s scholarship fund.
The building housing the Club was built in 1888 and purchased by the club in 1963. Its restoration has been a labor of love for the Community Woman’s Club of Cocoa and is listed in the Brevard Register of Historic Buildings.
There should be lots of foot traffic passing by the Club House as people park and walk to the Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Fair in Cocoa Village, which is scheduled for the same day.
“We are counting on attracting a portion of those people to stop off at our house on their way to or from that event,” said Susan Hatfield, president of the Club.
The Community Woman’s Club of Cocoa is dedicated to promoting the charitable and educational needs of Cocoa and the neighboring communities of Brevard County. Founded in 1922, it became affiliated with the Federation of Women’s Clubs the same year.
CWC has been active in supporting the Domestic Violence/Spouse Abuse programs, the Central Brevard Art Association, the Space Coast Pops, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Sharing Center, Hacienda Girl’s Ranch, Operation Smile, Crosswinds, Canine Companions & The Palace Retirement Home.
For many years the club has offered a college scholarship for young women and has adopted Cambridge, Saturn and Golfview Elementary Schools as well as providing financial support to Project Graduation at Cocoa and Rockledge High Schools.
The group meets 9:30-11:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month September through May.
Outdoor Vendors can still be accommodated through Feb. 24. To participate, call Pat Peterman at 321-636-3022.
