BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – An errant car gave a rude wakeup call early Monday morning as it slammed into a home on a dead-end street on Merritt Island.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2004 Saturn was traveling westbound on Girard Boulevard at about 4 a.m., and for an unknown reason, the driver failed to notice that the road was a dead-end road.

The vehicle continued straight into the yard of 1260 Girard Boulevard and ran into the front of the house.

The unknown occupants of the vehicle fled the scene in another vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The two occupants inside the house were not injured.

This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
