BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey personally walked into jail perp Kyle Nesbitt, 41, an animal abuser of a chihuahua named Bear, while delivering a blunt message about animal cruelty and accountability.

In a strongly worded statement, Sheriff Ivey said that anyone “tough enough to beat up a chihuahua” should also be “tough enough to go to jail in Brevard County – on a $15,000 bond.”

Sheriff Ivey is encouraging anyone with information about animal cruelty or neglect to report it to BCSO, stressing that community vigilance plays a critical role in protecting vulnerable animals.

“This kind of behavior is unacceptable,” Ivey said. “We will always stand up for those who cannot defend themselves.”
