BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A collapsed drainage structure has forced the closure of the intersection at John Rodes Boulevard and Dow Road in Melbourne.

Effective immediately, both roads are closed. Traffic control signs will be installed to assist the motoring public.

A contractor doing work on John Rodes will begin preparation of the site on Friday for pipe replacement which is expected to begin next week.

Another crew will be brought in to do the pipe replacement work which was already scheduled as part of the drainage improvement in the area that began in September.

The pipe, however, failed to hold out until the road project was completed. Work focusing in the area of the drainage pipe collapse began about a month and a half ago.
