Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Two Suspects In Merritt Island Shooting

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 36-year-old Christopher Lee Hines of Missouri and 20-year-old William Roger Gates of Rockledge in connection with a shooting incident on Friday at about 2:30 a.m.
Both suspects were charged with Aggravated Battery, Shooting into an occupied dwelling, Illegal use and display of a firearm and Illegal discharging of a firearm in a residential area.
According to Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to a report of multiple gun shots in the area of the apartment complex located at 1165 Jordan Road in Merritt Island.
Upon arrival, Deputies located a 26-year-old male victim who had an injury consistent with a gun shot wound. He was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
Deputies then located the silver BMW reported to be related to the incident and conducted a traffic stop. As a result of the traffic stop, a weapon was recovered.
Both Hines and Gates were transported to the Brevard County Jail and each are being held without bond.
According to Cpl. Jacobs, interviews determined the incident to be drug related and the victim’s identity is not being released at this time.
