Panther Volleyball Beats Rollins In Sunshine State Conference Opener

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –Florida Tech (6-2, 1-0 SSC) kicked off its Sunshine State Conference slate with a victory on Saturday at the Clemente Center.

The Panthers swept the Rollins College Tars (1-7, 0-2 SSC) to clinch the “W” in straight sets (25-21, 25-13, 25-21).

Junior Jenna Schaffer led all Panther hitters with a team-high 17 kills in addition to13 digs, while senior Marilyn Dick notched 14 kills and eight digs. At the block, seniors Kim Juriga and Alea Hamm each registered four blocks, as well as eight and five kills, respectively in the contest.

On the inside, senior Ashtin Truesdale dished out a match-high 29 assists to go along with her 11 digs. At libero, sophomore Becca Bower recorded 16 digs and four assists in the Panthers’ victory.

Pacing the Tars in this one was Shannon McDonough and Kianna Dieudonne with six kills each. MaryEllen Pole and April Jackson registered 10 and 11 assists, respectively.
