BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The leader of the league’s No.1 defense, one that has allowed just one goal in its previous four matches, goalkeeper Julia Kantor has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday.

A three-year starter in net for the Panthers, Kantor recorded a combined eight saves en route to two straight shutouts on the road, a 3-0 win over Palm Beach Atlantic and a 1-0 blanking of Lynn. Following her efforts, the senior has lowered her goals against average to 0.70, tops in the conference.

Kantor’s five total shutout are tied with Barry’s Paula Forero for the most in the SSC, as she has yet to come off the field this season.

The award marks the fourth time Kantor has been honored by the conference in her career, and the second consecutive week a Florida Tech player has garnered the defensive accolade.
