Former Cocoa Beach High Student Arrested For Making Potential Threats On Social Media

Information Found On Social Media About Alleged Threats

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – A 17-year old former Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School student made threats to disrupt the orderly conduct of the school campus and cause harm to other students, according to Cocoa Beach Police Maj. Scott Rosenfeld.

“On Tuesday, Cocoa Beach Police received information found on social media about the alleged threats,” said Maj.Rosenfeld.

Investigators conducted interviews and developed credible information to prepare an arrest warrant for the suspect. Shortly after the warrant was signed, the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office took the teen into custody without incident, according to Maj. Rosenfeld.

The suspect, who now lives in Sebring, Florida, was charged with the Threat to Throw, Project, Place, or Discharge Any Destructive Device, a second degree felony, and is being held out-of-county on a “no bond” status awaiting transfer to Brevard County.

The teen suspect is not being identified because he is under 18 years old.

This investigation is still active and ongoing.
