BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Elite Airways’ inaugural non-stop flight between Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) and the Portland International Jetport (PWM) will take place on Friday.

Elite Airways was founded in 2006 and provides charter and scheduled service throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Caribbean and South America.

The airline’s routes connect underserved communities with popular destinations including New York City, Denver, Houston, Branson, Orlando, Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral.

Headquartered in Portland, ME, Elite Airways’ maintenance operations center is located in Melbourne.

Celebrations are planned at both airports on Friday, along with a ribbon cutting in Portland at 1:15 p.m. at Gate 4.

In the first few weeks of ticket sales, several flights between PWM and MLB sold out, prompting Elite Airways to add more flights to accommodate high-demand times.

Non-stop service allows families to plan a weekend getaway or weeklong vacation with confidence, especially in the winter months.

“Today’s inaugural flight to Florida is a fitting day to announce our partnership with Make-A-Wish Maine, as so many families want to visit Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and nearby beaches for their special travel wish,” said John Pearsall, President of Elite Airways.

Orlando Melbourne International Airport is the closest airport to the world’s top cruise port and 72 miles of pristine Florida beaches.

An hour from Orlando’s theme parks, Kennedy Space Center and other world-class attractions, Orlando Melbourne International is just 10 minutes from beautiful beaches, swaying palm trees and breathtaking sunrises over the Atlantic.

Fast gaining popularity as the distinctive uncrowded alternative gateway to Florida vacations, MLB features service via Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Porter Airlines, and Elite Airways.

“We’re closest to beaches, closest to cruises and just a short drive to Orlando’s world-class theme parks. We commend Elite for this new route from Portland International Jetport (PWM) and look forward to welcoming its growing passenger base.”
