BREVARD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE DEPUTIES ARREST VEHICLE THEFT SUSPECTS Earlier today, Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies coordinated the arrest of a driver and passenger that were operating a stolen pickup truck. The arrest followed one of our Patrol Deputies observing a suspicious vehicle at a gas station in Cocoa. The Deputy subsequently checked the tag and learned that the truck had been reported stolen to the Cocoa Police Department the previous night.The vehicle and suspects were kept in sight as our team began coordinating resources to get the truck safely stopped. The apprehension efforts included our Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, K9, other Patrol Deputies, and both the Cocoa and Rockledge Police Departments. As units coordinated and closed in on the suspects, the driver finally surrendered in the city of Rockledge without incident. Both the driver and passenger were identified as juveniles. The driver, age 15 was arrested on various charges to include Felony Grand Theft Auto, Aggravated Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest Without Violence, and Driving Without a Driver’s License The passenger, also 15-years-old was charged with Felony Principle to Grand Theft Auto. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice. I’m extremely proud of our team and thankful for the assistance of the Cocoa and Rockledge Police Departments as we all worked together seamlessly to safely apprehend these suspects and take them off our streets. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Early Sunday, Sheriff’s Deputies coordinated the arrest of a driver and passenger in a stolen pickup truck, according Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
A Patrol Deputy observed a suspicious vehicle at a gas station in Cocoa.
The deputy checked the tag and learned the pickup had been reported stolen to the Cocoa Police Department the previous night.
The Deputy kept the vehicle and suspects in sight as he began coordinating resources to get the truck safely stopped. These efforts included the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, K9, other patrol deputies, and both the Cocoa and Rockledge Police Departments.
As units coordinated and closed in on the suspects, the driver finally surrendered in the city of Rockledge without incident. Both the driver and passenger are juveniles, according Cpl. Jacobs.
In a release by the Sheriff’s Office, the driver is identified as a 15-year-old juvenile from Cocoa and was charged with Felony Grand Theft Auto, Aggravated Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest Without Violence, and Driving Without a Driver’s License.
