BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The City of Rockledge will host its 2nd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Sunday, May 29, at Larry L. Schultz Park, starting at 2 p.m.
“The City of Rockledge holds its annual ceremony the day before Memorial Day so as not to conflict with other events around Brevard County,” said event co-coordinator Lisa Nicholas.
The program will feature patriotic music courtesy of the Community Band of Brevard, and Honor Guards from VFW Post 4534 (Rocket Post) and the Rockledge Police Department will participate in the ceremony.
Scheduled speakers include Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Port Commissioner and retired admiral Wayne Justice, and Col. Rich Goodman from Patrick Air Force Base. Boy Scout Troop No. 321 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Pastor Shaun Ferguson will offer the opening prayer.
A solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Wall will culminate the ceremony.
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America.

“Because of what Memorial Day represents, this is annually the most important event of the year for the City of Rockledge,” said Nicholas.
“The sacrifice made by those brave individuals shall never be forgotten. This is an event we are very proud of.”
Larry L. Schultz Park is located at 2560 Fiske Boulevard, at the corner of Fiske Boulevard and Levitt Parkway in Rockledge.
The ceremony is scheduled to last about an hour and admission to the ceremony is free. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
