BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA — A Titusville woman is facing multiple charges after, according to Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey, she attacked an animal enforcement officer with a broomstick during an incident that escalated into a physical confrontation.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded to the scene and took the woman into custody.

She was transported to the Brevard County Jail, where she was booked on charges related to battery on a law enforcement or animal enforcement officer.

Sheriff Ivey said the incident unfolded when a Brevard County animal enforcement officer responded to a call for service in the Titusville area.

While attempting to carry out official duties, the officer was confronted by the suspect, who became aggressive and struck the officer with a broomstick.

Sheriff Ivey said the assault occurred as the officer was actively engaged in an animal-related investigation, placing the employee in close proximity to the suspect when the situation quickly turned violent.

Sheriff Ivey said attacks on law enforcement will not be tolerated and that perps who target public safety personnel will be held accountable.

Animal enforcement officers in Brevard County are tasked with investigating reports of animal cruelty, neglect, and other violations, and are considered public safety officials under Florida law.

Assaulting one of these officers carries enhanced criminal penalties.

The identity of the suspect and additional details about the underlying animal-related call have not been fully released, and the investigation remains active.
