Eastern Florida State Volleyball Team Perfect At Spartanburg Invitational

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team had a big weekend at the Spartanburg Invitational in South Carolina.
The Titans were a perfect 4-0 in the tournament, defeating all four opponents in straight sets. After wins against the host Spartanburg Methodist and Walters State Community College on Friday, the team defeated Andrew College and St. John’s River Saturday.
The team opened the day with a 25-8, 25-15, 25-18 win over Andrew College as Rachael Gunn and Malvis Ortiz each had nine kills.
Then they took the court against St. John’s River and beat them 25-13, 25-21, 25-18. Once again Ortiz led the way with 11 kills while Delaney Smith finished with nine.

“The girls played very well this weekend and competed each set,” Eastern Florida State College volleyball coach Andrea Rasmussen said. “This tournament allowed us the opportunity to gain some confidence and momentum going in to a tough week of home matches.”
The Titans (4-1) will host St. John’s River Commuity College on Tuesday in the team’s home opener. The game will be televised on WEFS-TV and streamed online at efsctitans.com/webcast
The match will begin at 6 p.m. and admission is free.
