Lauren Kaighen of Melbourne Seriously Injured In Vehicle Crash In Cocoa Beach

The Cocoa Beach Police Department reported officers stopped a pickup truck Friday at 7:30 p.m. occupied by two juvenile males of Merritt Island who were observed to have displayed what appeared to be a rifle while driving southbound on N. Atlantic Avenue.
Lauren Kaighen, 23, of Melbourne was seriously injured Monday about 2 a.m. in a vehicle crash in Cocoa Beach.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH – Lauren Kaighen, 23, of Melbourne was seriously injured Monday about 2 a.m. in a vehicle crash in Cocoa Beach.

According to the Cocoa Beach Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of N. Atlantic Avenue and St. Lucie Lane in reference to a traffic crash with injuries.

Police said that Kaighen was traveling northbound on N. Atlantic Avenue in a 2007 BMW when she crashed into the rear of a pick-up, losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a tree.

Kaighen was airlifted to an area hospital in critical condition.

A passenger in Kaighen’s vehicle was also transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
