BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Chief Mark Renkens stopped by to check on Jasper, the two-year-old Yorkie Terrier who was stabbed during a home burglary and left for dead last week.

Officers arrested Markell Brent Sawyer in connection with the July 24 burglary and stabbing of the Yorkie Terrier.

According to police, Jasper is doing well and being cared for by his owner John Kilderry and neighbor Barbara Riha.

A judge in this case has raised the bond for suspect on the animal cruelty charge, according to Lt. Mike Bandish.
