BREVARD COUNTY , FLORIDA — The Brevard County Sheriff’s office, along with all local law enforcement agencies, will gather today to help those children in need of toys for Christmas by holding the second annual Reverse Christmas Parade.

While great programs such as “Shop with a Cop” and “Handle Bars for the Holidays” help the children of Brevard County have a merry Christmas, the Reverse Christmas Parade will help the departments reach their goal of making sure every kid on the Space Coast has a merry Christmas.

The “Reverse Christmas Parade” is a new concept that started last year when the annual ABATE (Biker) Toy Run was cancelled in Brevard County.

The annual biker toy run donated 6,000 to 8,000 new toys to Brevard kids for Christmas.

Filling that void was a must. Local law enforcement officials along with citizens of the Brevard County community worked together to come up with the reverse parade concept.

As everyone is aware during a parade the participants in the parade throw candy and other items to those lining the streets.

In the “Reverse Christmas Parade” the concept is for businesses and citizens to donate new unwrapped Christmas toys to law enforcement officers as they walk in front of businesses and homes at the various locations during the scheduled times.

Once the toys are collected, the local law enforcement agencies then work with all local charities to ensure the children of Brevard county have an amazing Christmas.

Specific areas of the parade route will be updated as the event draws closer. Stay tuned to Space Coast Daily for that information.
