BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – West Melbourne is home to Lucky’s Market’s newest location, which will open Wednesday in the former Winn Dixie at 3170 West New Haven Avenue in the Plaza West Shopping Center.

Lucky’s is known for offering affordable organic, local and specialty items to its customers. In addition to fulfilling a niche that West Melbourne lacked, the 36,000-square-foot market will also employ about 145 people.

A bacon-cutting ceremony will kickoff opening day festivities at 10 a.m., introducing customers to the market’s regular expansive variety of in-house smoked bacon and house-made sausages.

Opening day will also highlight Lucky’s Community Project, a decade-old endeavor which aims to improve the quality of life in local communities. Lucky’s Market will present more than $10,000 in Impact Grants to support two local non-profit organizations, including Victory Kids and Children’s Hunger Alliance.

Lucky’s Market will host other events in the coming weeks to celebrate its West Melbourne debut.

On January 14, the market will host a tasting fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., which will feature local vendors, food samples and gift basket giveaways.

More information will be announced about an upcoming “Impact Day,” in which 10 percent of one day’s total net sales will be used to expand the garden and programming for students with disabilities at the Meadowlane Intermediate School.

The new Lucky’s Market will be lead by a West Melbourne native, Mike Klenotich.

“I am more than excited and proud to bring high-quality organic foods at amazing prices to my hometown,” said Klenotich.

“I was born and raised in this community and am personally involved in many local community projects. Now, since I’m leading the new Lucky’s Market, I can combine my personal and work passions since Lucky’s Market is deeply involved in supporting its local communities.”

Other signature features of the market include a section of “never ever meats”, which have never been treated with artificial growth hormones or antibiotics, a department of made-from-scratch, ready-to eat meals, a juice bar, an extensive beer and wine selection, an apothecary department, a bulk section and a market café.

The café offers $2 pints of beer and $3 glasses of wine, inviting shoppers to enjoy a “Sip n’ Stroll” shopping experience.
