BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – The City of Satellite Beach is hosting a field day for the 2017 Health First Mayors’ Fitness Challenge kick-off from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Satellite Beach Sports & Recreation Park, located at 750 Jamaica Boulevard.

The Mayors’ Fitness Challenge is being held in conjunction with the Florida Department of Health-Brevard County and United Way of Brevard, Health First is enlisting participation from local mayors to compete against other cities and form teams to encourage residents to become more active and engage in physical activities.

“The event is open to all residents and will feature games all day, a DJ and music and a large blow up obstacle course, among many other things,” said Julie Finch, Administrative Assistant to the City Manager
City of Satellite Beach.

This event begins a 13-week program that is part of a nine Space Coast city effort to improve the health and fitness of Brevard citizens.

“Health First is maximizing its resources by addressing the top two priorities we feel will make the greatest impact over the next three years,” said Drew Rector, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer.

“The implementation strategies to address the disparities identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment will focus on helping people access and engage in health and wellness opportunities. Health First will continue to collaborate with our community partners to fulfill our mission of creating a healthier Brevard County.”
