Palm Bay Man Arrested After Investigation Recovers Nearly Two-Pounds of Crystal Meth, Nine Firearms

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police say they have arrested 34-year-old James Van Meerten, of 319 Wilmette Ave SW, Palm Bay for Armed Trafficking in Crystal Methamphetamine over 200 grams, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Sell, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Child Abuse.

Police note that the suspect had a 3-year-old child inside the vehicle during the bust.

Van Meerten was arrested after an extensive investigation by police, according to Lt. Mike Bandish of the Palm Bay Police Department.

The investigation yielded 1.98 lbs of Crystal Methamphetamine, $16,690 in US Currency, 9 Firearms, 2014 Dodge Ram Pick-Up Truck and 2009 Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Van Meerten is being held at The Brevard County Jail with no bond status.
