Eastern Florida State Womens Soccer Team Will Start Season Sept. 1 With Big Weekend

The six-time defending Region 8 championship Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team will open the 2017-18 season with a bang.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The six-time defending Region 8 championship Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team will open the 2017-18 season with a bang.

The Titans will host a big weekend of soccer Sept. 1-3 as six teams will compete at Titan Soccer Complex. Johnson County Community College, who finished last season No. 17 in the country will open the weekend of games against Daytona State College who finished runner-up to the Titans last season in Region 8.

Broward College will play St. Louis Community College at 3:45 p.m. with the Titans opening up the 2017 season against Southwestern Illinois at 6 p.m.

The men’s soccer team will wrap up a busy day of games with their home opener at 8 p.m. against Jefferson College.

Then on Sept. 3 Polk State College will play St. Louis at 10 a.m. with Daytona State facing Southwest Illinois at noon. The Titans will face Johnson County at 6 p.m. in a battle of top 25 teams in the nation.

Last seasons version of the Titans went onto finsih 14-3 and won the school’s sixth straight Region 8 championship. 

“The opening weekend is just around the corner with teams coming from Kansas, St. Louis and Illinois as well as Daytona State, Polk State and Broward College out of our conference.

This will be a real test for us right away as over half of our roster is new and we will have only been together for several weeks,” Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer coach Jeff Carr said.

After the weekend of games, the Titans shift their focus to a heavy conference schedule with four straight conference road games before returning to Titan Soccer Complex on Sept. 25 against Polk State College.

The Titans will have a six-game home stretch in October, facing Monroe College on Oct. 6 and then conference matches against Broward College (Oct. 9), ASA Miami (Oct. 13) and Daytona State (Oct. 16) before wrapping up the regular season on the road against Polk State College on Oct. 23.

“The level of play has gotten better every year inside and outside the conference and we will have our hands full once again competing with the tough schedule we have,” Carr said.

“We will be playing several teams this year that are in the top 20 in the country.  I’m excited to see where this team will take us.”

Eastern Florida State College will host the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament for the sixth straight season.

The Titans have made the tournament the past five seasons making it to the semifinals three times.
