Intercollegiate Tennis Association Recognizes 16 Florida Tech Panthers With All-Academic Honors

The ITA DII list, which consisted of 138 teams and 781 scholar athletes, contained 16 candidates from Florida Tech’s men’s and women’s tennis teams. 

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – On Tuesday afternoon, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2017 All-Academic Team Awards lists.

The ITA DII list, which consisted of 138 teams and 781 scholar athletes, contained 16 candidates from Florida Tech’s men’s and women’s tennis teams.

To receive the honor, student-athletes must maintain a team cumulative GPA of 3.20 or above, while maintaining a personal 3.50 GPA.

In addition, the scholar-athletes must also be varsity letter winners and be enrolled within the current Institution for at least two semesters.

On the men’s side, Majed Alshaik, Gerard Carpinell Augusti, Jack Clark, Tjimon Louisy, Jose Martinez, Foresight Okungbowa, Ivan Shapovalov, Silviu Solomon and Kleanthis Zisis Tegos all received honors.

This was third consecutive year the men’s team won the award.

Representing the women’s program was Mariana Castaneiras, Erin Egoroff, Maria Eschude Paricio, Kayla Hergott, Merritt Rabson, Paloma Vela, and Lauren Stuckey.

The ladies were selected as recipients of the All-Academic decoration. This was the fifth consecutive year the women reached the list.

Amongst the programs, both the men and women teams have had several repeat recipients of the award.

Both teams have repeat winners. The student-athletes that were previously awarded in 2016 were Castaneiras, Egoroff, Hergott, Rabson, Stuckey, Alshaik, Carpinell, Louisy, Okungbowa, Shapovalov, Solomon and Tegos.
