BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Merritt Island Mustangs football team opened the year with a victory over the Eau Gallie Commodores 24-14 in the Kickoff Classic Friday night.

Next week, the Mustangs open week 1 by hosting Avon from Avon, Ohio. Game time is set for 8 p.m.

For the Commodores, they travel to Satellite next week to take on the Scorpions. Satellite defeated Key West 53-50 in their Kickoff Classic. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
