BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Emergency Operations Center said a tornado touched down in Palm Bay Sunday morning about 11:45 p.m.
According to police, the tornado destroyed six mobile homes on Indian River Drive. No injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Tornado Warning for Southern Brevard County until 12:45 and a Tornado Watch for all of Brevard until 12 a.m. Monday.
At 11:10 a.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 11 miles east of Melbourne Beach, or 11 miles east of Indialantic, moving west at 35 mph.
HAZARD: Tornado. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation.
IMPACT: Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.
Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near Melbourne, Indialantic and Melbourne Beach around 11:30 a.m.
West Melbourne and Indian Harbour Beach and Suntree around 11:40 a.m. Camp Holly Fish Camp around 11:50 a.m. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Melbourne Village.
