BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On Monday, Richard Waterson was sentenced to 40 years confinement within the Federal Bureau of Prisons followed by lifetime probation for criminal acts that occurred in 2016.

In July 2016, Agents with the Brevard County Sheriffs Office and Homeland Security Investiagtiors (HSI) conducted an investigation where a suspect was online and actively seeking a child to sexually abuse.

The suspect was very graphic about how he wanted to physically abuse children and even wanted to start an “incestual family” to involve the children in abuse in some manner from birth.

During the course of the investigation the suspect was identified as Waterson who was living in Okaloosa County and was on GPS monitored State Probation for a previous Child Pornography arrest and conviction that occurred in 2012.

Waterson, who was aggressively seeking a child, could not travel out of county without bringing attention due to the GPS monitor, so Brevard County Sheriff’s Agents and HSI Agents traveled to Okaloosa County where Waterson wanted to meet an undercover agent in order to arrange sex with the undercover’s fictitious 13-year-old child.

Waterson then walked 3 miles to meet with an Undercover Agent in the parking lot of the Crestview Hotel where he was arrested. A search warrant was subsequently executed and Agents not only located child pornography in his residence, but on his screen saver as well.
