Florida Tech’s Evan Enders, Jan Hlavica and Brandon Smalley Named to Academic All-District Teams

Enders repeats on the Academic All-District Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — On Thursday, CoSIDA announced its Academic All-District Teams and Evan Enders, Jan Hlavica and Brandon Smalley were named First Team honorees.
Enders repeats on the Academic All-District Team after earning the laurel last season. A local product of Melbourne, Florida, appeared in 12 of the men’s soccer team’s 15 games this season, including making six starts.
The senior forward recorded seven points on three goals and an assist. He scored the game-winning goal in the Panthers’ 2-1 victory over No. 8 Lynn on Oct. 8. An electrical engineering major, Enders holds 3.93 grade point average.
He has been named to the FIT Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Sunshine State Conference every year at Florida Tech.
Hlavica is making his first appearance on the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams. The Kelc, Czech Republic native started 13 of 14 games this season and was the top scoring defender for FIT with eight points on three goals and two assists, in addition to finishing fourth on the team in minutes played at 1,193.
He was named to the All-SSC Second Team this season after earning honorable mention laurels in 2016. Hlavica has earned Athletic Director’s and SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction every year at Florida Tech. He boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in business administration and management, and is a member of the highly prestigious Delta Mu Delta Honor Society.

Smalley also garnered his first appearance on the Academic All-District team. A product of Bridlington, England, the sophomore received First Team All-SSC honors after starting 12 of 14 games and finishing atop the conference in total points with 21 on seven goals and seven assists this season.
He scored at least one point in 12 straight games to start the 2017 season. Smalley was named to both the Athletic Director’s and Commissioner’s Honor Rolls in 2016 and holds a 3.74 GPA in global management and finance at Florida Tech.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.
