BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Health First announced that 214 associate positions are being eliminated following a review of how the organization can best continue delivering on its mission to improve the health and wellness of the communities it serves.
The affected positions represent approximately 2 percent of Health First’s 10,350 associates. No hospitals or emergency departments are closing.
Most of the affected positions are in administrative, management and clerical support roles.
Health First will continue recruiting for clinical and other essential positions.
Some clinical positions are also affected by changes to specific programs and services:
• The Hospital at Home program is ending. Current patients will continue receiving care through the program until their care is complete.
• The Viera location of the Integrated Care Program is closing. The program will continue, with Viera patients transferring to the Gateway team.
• Health First Medical Group is ending its standalone comprehensive health assessment program. Those assessments will continue through annual wellness visits with patients’ primary care providers.
Patients affected by these changes are being contacted directly regarding their next steps.
Health First acknowledged the impact the decision will have on affected associates, their families and their colleagues.
Every impacted associate will receive a 60-day paid notice period, with full pay and benefits continuing throughout that time.
The organization is also providing job-search support and helping affected associates explore other positions within Health First.
Health First said its mission remains unchanged and that it will continue providing safe, high-quality care while investing in the services and facilities needed by the community.
