BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Randy Coleman’s big heart encompasses the world, but the City of Titusville holds a special place in the affections of this native son.
“We have such a rich history,” said Coleman, who was born there in 1959 and – with the exception of a five-year stint with the United States Navy during the Iranian Hostage Crisis – has lived there his entire life.
For his day job, Coleman is a financial advisor and a certified financial planner who works with clients to help them achieve their financial goals.
After hours, he spends his free time on a variety of community-enhancing boards, serving organizations such as the Children’s Advocacy Center, a one-of-a-kind, multidisciplinary agency that represents numerous groups involved in the investigation of child abuse and in the provision of services to abused children in the community.
Coleman, past chair of the Children’s Advocacy Center, now serves as ambassador and fundraiser.
A Governing Elder at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Titusville, Coleman traveled to the Philippines with his church for three weeks to teach and help with the building of schools. Coleman’s eagerness to help others has rubbed off in the next Coleman generation; his son, Randall, spent six months on a mission trip to Indonesia.
Jess Parrish Medical Foundation, which helps support the efforts of Parrish Medical Center, is another nonprofit dear to Coleman’s heart and he currently serves on its executive committee.
He is also on the board of the YMCA of Central Florida’s Titusville facility, which provides scholarships so at-risk children from North Brevard can avail themselves of its many services.

Gilchrist Education Foundation Founding President
Speaking of scholarships, Coleman is also the founding president of the Gilchrist Education Foundation, a group that funds scholarships for children who want to attend Christian schools.
His community involvement includes the past presidency of the Kiwanis Club of North Brevard and of the Titusville Sunrise Rotary Club. He is currently on the board of the Brevard County Civilian/Military Relations Council. Coleman believe he and his wife, Mary, and their two children are truly blessed to be part of a community such as Titusville.
“Titusville is an amazing place and a very caring community,” he said.
Coleman will be honored during the 2017 Central Florida Humanitarian Awards, which will take place Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place, located at 200 Rialto Place in Melbourne, Florida.
