BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Great Tornado Drill encourages everyone to make a plan for what they would do, and where they would go if a tornado warning were issued.

At 10:10 a.m. on January 24, the US National Weather Service Melbourne Florida will issue a“tornado drill warning” via NOAA weather radios and social media.

Participants should take shelter as they would during a real tornado warning: in an interior room, away from doors and windows, on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

Vehicles and mobile/manufactured homes are not recommended locations for tornado shelters.

Join the Great Tornado Drill by posting a sheltering selfie on the “Brevard County Emergency Management” Facebook event page or on your own Facebook page or Twitter account, tagging @BrevardEOC and/or using the hashtag #tornadodrill.
