The First Annual Promo Nerds Holiday Basketball Classic gets underway Tuesday with four games at Rockledge High School. The tournament gets underway each day at 4 p.m.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The First Annual Promo Nerds Holiday Basketball Classic wraps up Thursday with three games at Rockledge High School.

The tournament gets underway at 5:30 p.m.

DAY ONE SCHEDULE

• 4 p.m. – Agape Christian vs. Melbourne
• 5:30 p.m. – Inspire Prep vs. Viera
• 7 p.m. – Evans vs. Melbourne Central Catholic
• 8:30 p.m. – Cocoa vs. Rockledge

DAY TWO SCHEDULE

• 4 p.m. – CANCELLED
• 5:30 p.m. – Evans vs. Viera
• 7 p.m. – Inspire Prep vs. Melbourne Central Catholic
• 8:30 p.m. – Melbourne vs. Rockledge

DAY THREE SCHEDULE

• 4 p.m. – CANCELLED
• 5:30 p.m. – Cocoa vs. Viera
• 7 p.m. – Inspire Prep vs. Melbourne
• 8:30 p.m. – MCC vs. Rockledge

Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong and Steve Wilson, along with Space Coast Daily’s Alan Zlotorzynski, will be broadcasting all 12 games of the tournament, which can be seen in their entirety on Space Coast Daily TV.

The three-day tournament will feature eight teams, including five from Brevard County and three from out of the area.

Teams that will be participating along with the host team, the Rockledge Raiders are the Cocoa Tigers, Melbourne Bulldogs, Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers, Viera Hawks, Evans Trojans (Orlando), Inspire Prep Academy Cardinals (Orlando) and Agape Christian Saints (Orlando).

The tournament is considered “wide open.” Any team is capable of walking away with the Championship Trophy.

The home-team Rockledge Raiders are led by Senior All-American Elijah “Pooh” Weaver. ESPN has Weaver ranked as the No. 10 point guard in the nation. The 6-foot-5’-inch Weaver will be playing basketball next year at the University of Southern California.

Cocoa head coach James Rowe and Melbourne coaches Mike Soliven and Mike Gaudy are all Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame members. Both will have their teams ready to play.

Trey Schaneville (Sr.) has made the transition from the football field to the basketball court and will lead the Viera Hawks. Schaneville recently signed a letter-of-intent with Florida Tech and will be playing basketball and football.

The Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers are led by two of the best athletes in Brevard County – Zamari Walton (Sr.) and Lorenzo Hardy (Sr.). Walton recently signed a letter-of-intent to play football at Georgia Tech. The Hustlers are coming off of a 28-3 season and are always a difficult contender.
