ABOVE VIDEO: Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey held a press conference Saturday morning regarding the tragic death of Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Stanton, who was killed in an early morning crash on I-95 near State Road 50 in Titusville.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the deputy killed on his way to work in a traffic crash early Saturday morning on I-95, just north of State Road 50.

Field Training Officer Kevin Stanton died after his marked patrol vehicle was struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 95 in Titusville after a tire from the semi-truck blew causing the truck to crash into Officer Stanton’s patrol car.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers responded to the scene on I-95 southbound near Mile Marker 217, just north of State Road 50, at about 5:10 a.m. Saturday.

Officer Stanton was pronounced dead at the scene.

FTO Stanton was hired as a Deputy with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office on October 29, 2007, and has served with the agency for over 10 years.

During his 11 years of service, he received numerous letters of commendation, commendable service awards, and was nominated for a BCSO Life Saving Award.

The semi-truck driver was not injured and the Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
